I have never started a business before and I don’t know anyone who has either, so I picked this up hoping it would help me. There are so many things to get ready and do and this book explains everything perfectly. Not only does she cover all of the basics about setting up a business, but she also goes into a lot of detail about setting up a grooming business.
This book really helped calm down my fears and made me realize that this is truly possible and I can do it if I follow her plan. I actually can’t even imagine doing all of the necessary steps to start my business without this book! I finally feel like I’m totally prepared to handle everything.

I learned to groom at petsmart and I started my salon in 2015 and have been doing just okay. But it seemed like there was always some kind of problem I was having to deal with just problem after problem actually and I never felt like I could get ahead. I always felt overwhelmed. I started grooming back in 2013 and recently I knew it was time to open my own salon. I already know a lot about running a salon, but I’m pretty new when it comes to running a business. The first course I bought online had a lot of good information but it was expensive (almost $200) and it more focused on people that already have a salon. I needed something that would show me what I needed to do from the very begining.
Grooming Profits was exactly what I was looking for because it goes over everything you need to know if you’ve never ran a business before. It goes over the different types of grooming businesses, how to make sure your city is a good place to open a salon, how to organize the business, get funding, which equipment is the best to use, how to find a good location for the salon.
Then you get to see a salon actually being started from an empty building and she goes over how to design the salon, what work you will probably have to do, and all the work that they had to do to open the salon shown in the book. That was one of the best things, you see everything from the time they rented an empty building and by the end of the book it’s an open salon with a lot of clients.
There are a lot of other chapters too that go over stuff like how to set your prices correctly, how to schedule the salon, how much money you can make, etc. I especially like how every item is listed so I knew exactly what equipment and tools, supplies to buy so I didn’t have to guess. The author lists everything that she uses herself and she also talks about saving money on equipment.
There’s so much information with all of these books! Following the information in this book I feel confident that I will have my own salon very soon. I highly recommend them.

This book makes everything so simple. It starts with where pet grooming came from (the history) then goes into how to become a groomer, and then there’s a chapter for each step you need to take in order to open up a grooming business. Some of the information that I found the most helpful was about what and what not to focus on when you’re first getting started.

The cover of this book makes a bold claim, saying that you can make $100,000 - $500,000 a year with a grooming business. At first this turned me off because I was afraid the book would be a bunch of hype and unfounded claims. I still decided to buy it, mostly because of the price, and I am really glad I did.
The book has 22 chapters and covers over 500 pages. Each chapter is devoted to a specific topic for how to train to become a groomer and open a grooming business. In my opinion some of the best chapters are the ones devoted to how to organize and fund the business, and also the chapters where she tells you how to set up the salon. I also found the chapter where she lists every grooming tool she uses to be very helpful.
Overall this is a really good resource and doesn’t have any hype at all. The author even has a detailed timeline that lays out how long it usually takes for a grooming business to make $1,000 a week, $2,000 a week, $3,000 a week, and so on. I’m still not sure I want to be a groomer, but if I ever do I will surely use this book when I’m getting started.
